ITINERARY
On arrival at Hanoi's Noi Bai International airport. City Sights: Visit Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex and Ba Dinh Square. Visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum which contains the embalmed body of Ho Chi Minh (closed Mondays, Fridays and from 15 June to 15 August); and Ho Chi Minh's Stilt House where Ho Chi Minh lived from 1958 until his final days in 1969. Preserved in the same condition as during his life, it may be viewed through the windows. Continue to the miniature 11th century One Pillar Pagoda which was rebuilt after being destroyed by the French in 1954. Visit train street (may view from outside). Next stop is Hoan Kiem Lake and Ngoc Son Temple. Free for shopping at Hanoi Old Quarter. Accommodation at hotel in Hanoi.
This morning, depart from Hanoi for Ninh Binh province (100 km), enjoying the rural scenery along the road. Arrive Mua cave which is constructed following the model of “MINIATURE GREAT WALL” in China. You must climb up nearly 500 steps to reach the top of the Cave where you have a great chance to overview the majestic beauty of Tam Coc rice field, Trang An complex, Ninh Binh city, Ngo Giang river, otherwise you can check in with so many great photos. We spend one hour visiting the Dinh and Le sanctuaries. These are the two remaining temples of the ancient citadel of Hoa Lu. The first is dedicated to Dinh Tien Hoang (also known as Dinh Bo Linh), an Emperor from the Dinh Dynasty. The second commemorates the rulers of the Le Dynasty. Dinh Bo Linh successfully conquered Vietnam’s first independent rulers, the Ngo Dynasty. On his death in 980, General Le Hoan wisely married Dinh’s widow and established the Le Dynasty and enlarged the citadel. Next stop is Trang An complex. Get on a boat trip that leads you through some of Vietnam’s most stunning scenery, including towering limestone karst peaks, impressive caves, and magnificent temples. Located in Ninh Binh province, the Trang An Landscape Complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its spectacular landscape. Stay Flower Garden Hotel or similar in Hanoi.
Following breakfast, private bus (without guide) picks you up from your hotel and travel to the spectacular World Heritage site of Halong Bay in the Gulf of Tonkin (approximately four hours). Arrive at your jetty in Halong City towards noon and proceed with check-in formalities. After your welcome onboard, a lunch will be served while cruising towards the bay itself. In the afternoon, enjoy some visits and/or activities (depending on each boat’s itinerary) or just spend some time relaxing on board. Towards the end of the day the boat sets anchor for the night among the karst formations. Dinner is served on board. Enjoy your fresh morning in the middle of the bay, the sun rises on Halong in the morning and breakfast is served (brunch on some boats) while the vessels cruises slowly through the magnificent rock formations and back towards port. Disembark and transfer by the cruise shuttle bus back to Hanoi, then private car (without guide) takes you to airport for your flight to Danang. This morning, free for relax at My Khe beach - classified as one of the most attractive beaches on earth. In the afternoon, visit Cam Thanh coconut village. Here, you will experience basket boat ride around the coconut forest, learn about the daily life of Vietnamese fishermen, their families and their community. You will surely experience the feeling of floating on the waves of water and join an equally fun basket boat race between the baskets together in the cheering and bustling music drum. Then you will visit Hoi An ancient town, which is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site. Enjoy a walking tour of this enchanting town visiting an old merchant house, a Chinese Assembly Hall and the Japanese Covered Bridge. After breakfast, transfer to Ba Na Hill, then take a cable car trip (awarded 2 GUINNESS records) to Ba Na Hills, enjoying green natural forests and Dream Stream, Elephant Rock, Rainbow from above. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for the flight to Ho Chi Minh City (driver pick up/without guide). Upon arrival, visit to downtown, Saigon teems with energy, activity and motion. Everywhere you look, you see the convergence of traditional and modern life. Begin with a tour of the historic center. Pay a quick visit to the neo-Romanesque Notre Dame Cathedral and the Central Post Office. Visit War Museum, Jade Emperor Pagoda, shopping at Ben Thanh Market. Stay Ramana Hotel Saigon or similar
After breakfast, a one and half hour drive takes you to Cu Chi Underground Tunnel where human knowledge has been enriched by experiencing a web-like tunnel system of more than 200km in length which used to be the shelters of guerrillas during the war against American troops. Today you are free for leisure until the time transfer to the airport for the flight to Siem Reap (driver pick up/without guide). Then we will visit Wat Thmei (Killing Field) contains a unique glass-walled stupa containing the bones of victims of the Khmer Rouge. Some of the bones were recovered from a nearby well while others are the remains of soldiers who died on a nearby battlefield. Then we will visit Puok, the real and original place of the Artisans d’Angkor silk, where you will see the full process of silk producing, from the silk worms munch on the Mulberry leaves to spin their cocoons which used to make silk warp. You of course will see the weaving work and purchase the high quality silk products as a beautiful Cambodia souvenir. Stay Royal Crown Hotel or similar
Breakfast at hotel, explore South Gate of Angkor Thom known as Big Angkor, 3km2 walled and moated royal city and was the last capital of the Angkorian Empire, the famous Bayon Temple was an architectural muddle, in part because it was constructed in a somewhat piecemeal fashion for over a century. Terrace of the Elephants is an impressive, two and a half meter tall, 300-meter-long terrace wall adorned with carved elephants and gradual that spans the heart of Angkor Thom in front of Baphuon - huge temple mountain in the heart of Angkor Thom, Royal Palace Area and Phimeanakas - impressive rite and sandstone pyramid. Terrace of the Leper King is at the north end of the Terrace of the Elephants, a double terrace wall with deeply carved nag as, demons and other mythological beings. Last you will visit Ta Prohm temple which is a wonderful combination of human genius and natural beauty! Giant trees have grown here for centuries. Afternoon visit Angkor Wat temple; the founder of the temple was Suryavarman II who reined Cambodia from 1113 to 1152 and built the five towers in the 12th century to dedicate to the Hindu God Vishnu. The plan of the pyramidal conception of the temple combined with spaces, alleys, ditches is an ancient masterpiece of architectural design and construction. It is time for a romantic sunset view. Sunrise at Angkor Wat and return to hotel for breakfast This morning visit Banteay Srei is a distinct temple dedicated to shiva known for intricate carvings. (smaller scale compared to Angkor Wat) but very beautiful. Other temples: Preah Khan, Prasat Kravan, Srah Srang, Neak Poan and Ta Som and Pre Rup temple. Breakfast at hotel, morning we drive to Tonle Lake to get a taste of life ruled by monsoonal rains and water-based agriculture on and around one of the most productive bodies of fresh water in the world. Walk through the lovely Pour Krom village to get a feel of authentic Khmer rural life. Proceed to Chong Kneas and embark on a cruise to see floating villages moving in and out due to the varying water level. Over time, the floating community has evolved to have almost everything villages on land have, including schools and spiritual structures. En route back to town, we have a chance to visit the "Les Artisans d'Angkor – Chantiers Ecole" the Finest Authentic Khmer Arts and Crafts, or Senteur D’angkor, the realm of Khmer scents. Afternoon visit West Baray Big Pond, a “baray” is a water reservoir built by the ancient Khmer people. Then we take short walk along the road in front of the King’s Residence to see the Main Shrine, where the local people usually worship, with its statue of Yeay Teap, Preah Ang Chek and Preah Ang Chorm. Buying jasmine and lotus flowers to worship is very important for the Cambodians. We continue to one of the city’s lively open markets, Psar Chars, also called the “Old Market”, where anything and everything is for sale. Stay Royal Crown Hotel or similar
